Everything ABC's Blog Hop Letter I

Welcome to the Everything ABC's Blog Hop!

For this hop we will be featuring the letter I. This may be the name of a paper, a stamp set or an embellishment. Whatever the crafter has chosen as their I element will be featured in their post.

If you have just hopped onto my blog, please start at the beginning at Amber's blog ~ Scrapper's Therapy.

If you came from Theo then you're on the right track!

Hello again! Time is just flying by, can't believe it's been 2 weeks since our last blog hop already. It took me awhile to come up with something for the letter "I" but I did it :) Sat down at my crafting table with all my supplies scattered everywhere and it jumped out at me! Irresistibles!!! These are great chipboard die cuts that already have a resist pattern on them, so all you have to do is ink them them up. The ones I used are sadly discontinued, but you can find others at my website. We have a houndstooth alphabet, some journaling spots, and frames.
I've still been hard at work making Mother's Day cards (remember it's May 12th - soon!!! So go get your handmade cards from my Etsy shop). Here are 2 more that I've made, both using the adorable Irresistibles!
This one uses our NEW Dream Pop paper, not yet available to customers. It will be soon though! The entire month of May if you make any purchase of $35 or more you can get this exclusive paper pack for only $10. It comes with 12 B&T and 12 Cardstock that will not be available again after May 31st, so make sure you get at least a few packs ;) I sanded the edge of the card stock to reveal some more of the white core and make it pop off the page a bit more. The stamp is from Perfect Fit - Mom on White Daisy card stock, stamped in Grey Flannel ink. The shape is cut from our Artiste cartridge, pg 33 at 1-1/2". The flower was inked with Tulip ink using a sponge. I just love that resist pattern!

Here is another card using the Dream Pop paper. Behind the sentiment is some baker's twine wrapped around the card stock. Can you see the cute pattern on the butterflies?

ABC's Blog Hop Letter H

Welcome to the Everything ABC's Blog Hop!

For this hop we will be featuring the letter H. This may be the name of a paper, a stamp set or an embellishment. Whatever the crafter has chosen as their H element will be featured in their post.

If you have just hopped onto my blog, please start at the beginning at Amber's blog ~ Scrapper's Therapy

If you came from Linda @ Scrappy Therapy then you're on the right track!

Welcome back to my blog! I've been on a little hiatus with family visiting from out of town and being sick/pregnant/blah in general....but I'm back!!! Yay :)
So I truly think that giving a handmade card is so much more preferable than going to the store and spending anywhere from $0.99-$5+ on a generic mass produced one. If you've made the card yourself, it shows the time and effort and thought you put into it. If you just aren't that crafty, then purchasing a handmade card helps a small business owner such as myself make a living for her and her family! Handmade is definitely the way to go!
With that being said, Mother's Day is coming up soon. Wouldn't you like to show your mother, wife, grandmother, daughter, or any other important mom in your life how much you care? I know I do! So I've been working on some Mother's Day cards for my own personal use as well as to put up in my brand new Etsy shop. Here is one that I made today:

It is using a fun technique called triple stamping. It takes a little bit of math to start, figuring out the proper dimensions for each piece so that you show off your stamping and add just a little bit of matting in between the layers. I personally cut my matting 1/4" total bigger than the next smallest piece of white, and my white a total of 1" bigger than the next smallest piece of matting. (Does that make sense? Hopefully I worded it right!). So the theory is that on each side I've got 1/2" of white to show off the stamping and about an 1/8" of matting separating the pieces.
For this card I used Hollyhock cardstock for my matting. The bottom layer of the flowers are stamped in Smoothie. The detail on the flowers, as well as the sentiment in the middle are stamped in Hollyhock. The leaves are stamped in Topiary. The flowers come from the Floral Happiness stamp of the month set. The sentiment comes from Perfect Fit - Mom. And the leaves come from Something Splendid.
Here are some other handmade mother's day cards I have made recently...

Neglectful Blogger

I seem to be such a neglectful blogger lately! Life has certainly caught up with me and I just haven't been able to make time for as much crafting and blogging as I would like.
We had family in town for a couple of weeks. It was fabulous getting to see and spend time with my parents, and the kids thoroughly enjoyed it too! The kids had their Spring Break at the same time, so we got to do quite a bit of exploring around the island of Oahu that we just hadn't made time for before.
I am now 34 weeks pregnant and very much in the uncomfortable, painful, ready to be done phase! This has not stopped my motivation, but my energy sure has been zapped to the point of not accomplishing much :/
I did however finally set up my Etsy shop!!! So that is very exciting. There is not much up quite yet (read the lack of energy above) but I will be continuously adding new things as I get them done. There will be cards, layouts, kits, and some supplies on there. If you have any suggestions, I'd love to hear them! I will also (hopefully) be expanding my customizable listings as well to include baby shower, wedding and bridal shower, and birthday kits soon! You can visit my shop at http://www.etsy.com/shop/SereneScrapping Check back often for new listings :)
This week I also intend to jump back on the blog hop train...we are doing the letter H. Still trying to decide what my "H" is going to be...stay tuned and we might both be surprised!

The card is white daisy cardstock, cut to be a 4"x6" card. (1385)

Everything ABC's Blog Hop Letter D

Welcome to the Everything ABC's Blog Hop!

For this hop we will be featuring the letter D. This may be the name of a paper, a stamp set or an embellishment. Whatever the crafter has chosen as their D element will be featured in their post.

If you have just hopped onto my blog, please start at the beginning at Amber's blog ~ Scrapper's Therapy
If you came from Shelly at Just One Piece (person above on the list) then you're on the right track!
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So I've been out of town away from all my crafting supplies and racking my brain for something to do for the letter D...I got home late Wednesday night (the day before Valentine's Day) and realized I hadn't even made my hubby a card yet, yikes! So Thursday morning I'm looking through all my paper and stamp sets trying to get some inspiration and I got it :) I'm still in love with the Dotty for You paper (no longer available, was a special from last year) and I just got a new stamp that isn't too girly. Here is the quickie card I came up with!
The stamp on the front is one of our Quick Cards - Dragonfly (A1134). I love this series of stamps because it's an image and a sentiment all in one! If you can't read it, it says "You make my heart flutter" To create the effect I covered the stamp in Sweet Leaf ink and then inked just around the edges of the stamp in Lagoon.
The inside sentiment is from the January SOTM (Stamp of the Month).
Chantilly Card WOTG
So what exactly is a WOTG? It's a Workshop On The Go! It's got everything (almost!) pre-packaged along with instructions on how to make whatever it is that the workshop includes. We have WOTG's for cards, layouts, and even decor items. Pretty neat right? Right! My workshop for the month of February is based on our Chantilly Card WOTG. It includes the cards and envelopes, paper, an exclusive stamp set that you can ONLY get in the WOTG, and some exclusive embellishments as well.
Here is the "official" picture of what the directions help you make:
They are really cute. Pretty gender neutral birthday cards.
One thing I love about our papers, if you don't already know, is that they are double sided. So that leaves quite a few options, even with the limited amounts of paper you get in a WOTG, to make some variations and put your own spin on the cards. The following are some of the cards I came up with. Keep in mind that the 3 "thank you" cards I made were using a different stamp set than the one in this WOTG.
As with all of our WOTG's, you will need some basic tools to complete them. Ink, acrylic blocks, adhesive, paper trimmer, scissors, etc. If you are local to Hawaii, join me for this workshop later this month (exact date/time coming soon!). If not, order the kit and just follow the directions. It's super easy. And be creative! Just like I did, don't be afraid to change things up and make these cards your own.
You will get all of this for only $29.95!
The Everything ABC's Blog Hop - Letter C
Welcome to the Everything ABC's Blog Hop!
For this hop we will be featuring the letter C. This may be the name of a paper, a stamp set or an embellishment. Whatever the crafter has chosen as their C element will be featured in their post.
If you came from Shelly at Just One Piece then you're on the right track!
So between visiting family out of town and being sick, I sadly missed the A and B of this...but I am so ready to jump on this blog hop and have an extra motivation to craft (and blog about it of course!) I hope you enjoy my creations!
I had a custom order for invitations and thank you cards for a sweet girl's 5th birthday party. They were having a sophisticated tea and dress up party. Of course I squealed in delight and my creative juices started flowing. I used our Cricut Artiste Cartridge and a stamp set from our Cricut Art Philosophy set to create the invitations.
Isn't that adorable?!
Materials for the front:
Card is colonial white
La Bella Vie paper pack (now retired)
Tan ribbon from Pear and Partridge card workshop
Dress cut from pg 41 of the Artiste cartridge - Z1790
Stamp set from the Art Philosophy Cartridge bundle - Z1686
7mm Pearl bling non-CTMH
Pink ribbon is non-CTMH
Here is the inside of the card. Personal information blurred out of course.
The pink background page is also from the La Bella Vie paper
Teapot cut from La Bella Vie mauve using a non-CTMH cricut cartridge
Information is printed on white vellum
Ribbon is non-CTMH
And here is the thank you card.
Background is from La Bella Vie
The pink is from La Bella Vie
Stamped with "Thanks" in black - A1125
Embellished with Bitty Sparkles - Z1263
Black tulle ribbon is non-CTMH (although we have some! it was thicker than I was looking for)
Cards with meaning
Have you ever had a moment and creativity just struck you? I had that moment the other day while pondering a donation I had agreed to do. I heard about Laney Kate's Legacy from another military wife/crafter friend of mine and when I read the story I couldn't NOT do something. (You can read their story here. So I contacted the mom and offered to donate a card set for the auction they are having. After thinking about which stamp sets I have something just clicked...I had to combine two stamps from two completely different sets but I am in LOVE with the results. Here it is...
I think what I love about this card is that it could be used for so much! It's the remembrance ribbon with wings to signify that someone is now an angel. Change up the colors and it could be used for a boy, cancer, etc. It seems that almost every cause out there right now has a ribbon. I had some trouble figuring out which color was "supposed" to be for infant loss so I gave up and made it pink for sweet little Laney Kate. Text could be added to the bottom, etc. So many possibilities!
Materials:
White daisy cardstock cut 8" x 6" and scored at 4" to make a 4" x 6" card
2nd gen stamping on the background in Blush (stamp from April 2012 SOTM You Are...)
Ribbon stamped in Blush, outlined with Grey Flannel marker - Always Remember A1095
Wings stamped in Blush, outlined with Grey Flannel marker - Princess Wings C1502
Random Craftiness
Hi lovelies! This pregnancy is finally easing up on me a little and I'm getting a little more energy and motivation to actually accomplish things, amazing right? Right! So I could use that energy to clean the house and do laundry, orrrr craft! I've been choosing crafting maybe more than I should but it's more fun.
So the other night I was in my craft area and straightening up from a marathon of finishing up a custom order (future blog post on that coming soon!) and I got a little inspiration. There are a few birthdays coming up and I wanted to make some cards. I've been hoarding the Dotty for You paper from a special last year and figured I should start using it. Nobody can appreciate it just sitting in my paper box. I'm also waiting on our NEW products to arrive so I can start playing with them...so I figured why not? Here is what I came up with...
It's cute right? Very simple...but I think as you follow my work you will see that I am a pretty simplistic crafter. More is not always better from my perspective.
Here's what I used:
White daisy cardstock cut at 8" x 6" and scored in half to make the base
Dotty for You chevron cut at 5.5" x 2.5" and then cut along a chevron line
Cupcake is a stamp from Artiste Cricut collection (there is a cut that matches on the cartridge but I hand cut around the stamp for this one)
---stamped in Buttercup ink, outlined with Grey Wool marker, colored in with watercolor pencils, and added a few Bitty Sparkles
Sentiment is stamped from the same Artiste collection stamp set
---stamped in Tulip
